Advent and Christmas events schedule (at CUMC, unless otherwise noted)
Tuesdays at 1 p.m., Nov. 22 through Dec. 13 — Advent Bible Study, “The Wonder of Christmas: Once You Believe, Anything is Possible.” If you did not already enroll, please call the CUMC office as soon as possible, to do so.
Sunday, Nov. 27 — First Sunday in Advent, Hanging of the Greens following worship. Pizza Party afterward.
Sundays, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 — Worship at 11 a.m. Bible preaching; Christ is Coming!
Sunday, Dec. 18 — Worship at 11 a.m.; Calvary Brass, Bell Choir, and Organ Concert, 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Wednesday, Dec. 21 — Blue Christmas Service (in the Parlor), 7 p.m. For those who have lost someone dear, are hurting, want prayer, new strength, or are unable to attend on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. Come share your time with God, and with others who are there.
Saturday, Dec. 24 — Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7 p.m. Family service for young and old alike! Come meet the newborn Christ.
Sunday, Dec. 25 — Combined Christmas Day service at Brookside UMC, 4000 Frances St. (Vandercook Lake), 11 a.m. Everyone at Calvary, Brookside, Trinity and Zion UMCs (plus friends and relatives) is invited.
Wednesday, Dec. 28 — Blood drive at Calvary UMC, 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. Give the gift of life! Hot dogs free to anyone stopping by, whether you give blood or not. The Red Cross will give free long-sleeve T-shirts to all donors, while supplies last.
Sunday, Jan. 1 — Combined worship service (all four UMC churches, plus friends, relatives) at Trinity UMC, 11 a.m.
Start the New Year at Calvary UMC at 11 a.m. on Sundays, with Pastor Eric Iden preaching. God is calling!
The gifts we exchange at Christmas can’t compare to what God gave us on the first Christmas. Jesus brought unfailing love, unending hope, and unfailing peace. Let us celebrate these beautiful gifts this new year, and share with everyone we meet.
