Much has happened since the last update. Some of the path forward has become clearer. Some things are yet to be finalized. One of those is the vote to accept Pastor Mary’s salary package at a called Church Conference on June 25, following worship. The timing of her first Sunday to preach is still July 9, though she won’t be able to be with us in worship on July 2. That is the date of her welcome reception at Jackson First UMC. Our welcome reception for Pastor Mary will follow worship on July 9.

The Staff Parish Relations Committee has been working to put together what Pastor Mary calls a “Listening Tour,” a way for her to get to know us and for us to get to know her. She has outlined a format for small group get-togethers where she can hear from each person attending about their hopes and aspirations for the future of Calvary UMC.

It’s now time to sign up to be included in one of those small group get-togethers. Below you will find a form to complete, that you can put in the collection plate or mail to the church office. If you prefer to phone in your name/s you may call Jena , Lillian, or Kim in the church office (Monday through Thursday) at 782-0543. If you phone in your res- ervation(s), please indicate your preferences for afternoon or evening gatherings and identify any weeks you will be unavailable in August, September and October.

Names will be collected until July 31. Following that, dates will be set for the gatherings and persons will be contacted with the date and time of their reservation. We are still looking for hosts for the gatherings of four to 15 persons. Hosts will be responsible for welcoming their guests and providing a dessert and beverage. We currently have six hosts and need several more. Please call Lillian at the number above if you are able to be a Listening Tour host. Updated information will be available in worship bulletins.
